When this fires
You can configure missed-call text-backs to fire on three different call outcomes:
A missed call (busy, voicemail, or no answer) fires a GHL workflow that auto-sends your text-back on WhatsApp — within seconds, before the lead cools off.
You can target one of these or all three — your choice:
- Busy — caller got an "engaged" tone
- Voicemail — call went to your voicemail box
- No answer — call rang out without being picked up
Setup overview
The setup uses GHL's Call Status trigger inside a workflow. Here's the high-level flow:
Create a new GHL workflow
In your GHL sub-account, go to Automation → Workflows → + Create Workflow.
Add a Call Status trigger
For the trigger, choose Call Status. Select which call outcomes should fire the workflow (busy, voicemail, no answer).
Add an SMS action
Add a Send SMS action with your text-back message. Because SMS = WhatsApp after WAGHL is installed, this message will be delivered on WhatsApp automatically.
Activate the workflow
Toggle the workflow to Active. From now on, every missed call automatically sends your message via WhatsApp.
Keep it warm and short. Example: "Hey {{contact.first_name}}, sorry I missed your call! I'll get back to you shortly. Feel free to reply here on WhatsApp if it's urgent."
