WA Connect Helper — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the WA Connect Helper browser extension ("the Extension") handles information. Please read it together with the privacy policy of the CRM platform you use the Extension with ("the Platform").

What the Extension does

The Extension helps you connect your own WhatsApp account to your CRM account. After you log in to WhatsApp Web yourself, the Extension reads your WhatsApp Web session from your browser and securely transmits it to your CRM account, so the Platform can send and receive WhatsApp messages on your behalf — a capability you have authorized as a customer of the Platform.

The Extension only acts when you explicitly start the process by clicking "Connect with extension" on your CRM account page.

Information the Extension accesses

• WhatsApp Web session data. After you log in to WhatsApp Web, the Extension reads the session and authentication data that WhatsApp Web stores in your browser (for example, cryptographic keys and identifiers representing your logged-in device). This is required to operate your WhatsApp connection on the Platform.
• Your CRM account identifier and API key. Provided to the Extension by your CRM account page so it knows which account to connect the session to, and to authorize the request.

The Extension does not read your WhatsApp messages, contacts, or chat history for its own purposes, and does not access data from any website other than WhatsApp Web and your CRM account page.

How the information is used

• The session data and your account identifier/API key are transmitted once, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), to your CRM Platform's server, to establish your WhatsApp connection.
• The Extension does not use this information for any other purpose. It does not sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising or analytics.

Data transmitted to the Platform's server

The Extension sends the session data and your account identifier/API key to your CRM Platform's own server (the platform you are a customer of). Once received, that data is handled under the Platform's privacy policy and terms. The Extension itself does not operate any separate data store.

Cleanup of your browser session

After your account is connected, the Extension clears the WhatsApp Web session from your browser (cookies, cache, local storage, and related site data for web.whatsapp.com) so that a logged-in WhatsApp Web session is not left behind on your device. This is a local cleanup on your own browser; it does not transmit any data.

Permissions and why they are needed

• Access to web.whatsapp.com — to read your WhatsApp Web session after you log in, and to clear it afterwards.
• Access to your CRM account page — to show the "Connect with extension" button and receive your connection request.
• scripting — to read the session data from the WhatsApp Web page and to clear it when finished.
• tabs — to open WhatsApp Web in a new tab and manage that tab during the process.
• alarms — to schedule the browser-session cleanup shortly after the connection completes.
• storage — to temporarily hold connection state during the process.
• browsingData, cookies — to clear the WhatsApp Web session (cookies, cache, and site data) from your browser after the connection is complete.

Data retention by the Extension

The Extension does not retain your data. Any connection state it stores temporarily during the process is cleared when the process completes. It keeps no logs or copies of your WhatsApp session data.

Children's privacy

The Extension is a business tool intended for customers of the Platform and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
